Love Island Australia’s Cartier Surjan and Matthew Zukowski have called it quits just two weeks after the grand finale.
The lifeguard, 19, took to Instagram on Thursday to share a snap of herself beaming alongside Matthew, 24, at the ARIA Awards in Sydney on Wednesday.
In the caption she told her legions of fans: ‘I’ve made the decision that Matthew and I are better off staying good friends rather than in a relationship.
‘He’s a beautiful guy no doubt about it! Hope you all can respect my decision and support both of us in finding true love,’ she added.
While fans shared their sympathies and best wishes to the couple, others hinted that her former Love Island Australia beau Adam Farrugia may now be in with a chance.
One commented: ‘There’s hope for Cartier and Adam,’ while another wrote: ‘We need her to reunite with Adam.’
Matthew also took to his Instagram to share the news with his followers.
He wrote: ‘Moving forward I would just like to let you all know that Cartier has decided that the two of us are better off suited as friends. I respect Cartier & her decision.’
‘She is truly a beautiful girl and I wish the best for her in the future! Hope you can all support us finding true love,’ he added.
Fans of the show will remember that Cartier was emotional when she was faced with the heartbreaking task of deciding between Matthew and Adam (left)
Cartier was coupled up with Adam who she stayed with for four weeks. In that time, the two developed a strong connection and romantic relationship.
Unfortunately, it ran its course and the two decided to be friends before she moved on with Matthew.
